A pleasant diversion; an agreeable occupation of the mind: the pleasure of solving a crossword puzzle.
Entertaining is an activity understood objectively that encompasses communication between text and audience from an external stimulus, that offers pleasure, requires an audience to exist and that occurs in a passive form. Oliver and Barstsch (2010) describe entertainment as any consumer activity that provides a positive experience. Bates and Ferri (2011) suggest that entertainment is an activity that offers a positive experience and alleviates boredom.
Entertaiment can include anything from watching movies and television to playing video games, sports and other physical activities, listening to music, participating in live performances, reading books or poetry, and experiencing visual art. It can also be an experience that a person has created, such as writing an article.
